Starting to learn a new language can be quite daunting, especially if it’s your first time. With so many options like apps, textbooks, and online courses, it can be tough to know where to begin. What do you think is the best first step to take for building a strong foundation?

For those who have embarked on this journey, did you find it more effective to start with vocabulary or to prioritize grammar rules? Many people enjoy using notebooks to keep their notes organized, but I’m curious about different learning methods. What approaches worked for you in the beginning? Any advice on staying motivated during those early stages?

I started with vocabulary first, just focusing on the most common words and phrases. Flashcards were my go-to, and I tried to use them in conversation whenever I could. To keep motivated, I set small goals and rewarded myself for sticking to it, like treating myself to a movie in the language I was learning.

I started with a lot of vocabulary, using flashcards and apps like Duolingo. It helped me build a base pretty quickly. As for motivation, I found watching shows in the language really boosted my interest. Just hearing it in context made a huge difference!
