What should you consider when choosing a study flashcard app?

With so many flashcard apps out there, finding the right one can feel daunting. Some prioritize spaced repetition, while others excel in organization and ease of use. For those of us who use GoodNotes for our studies, compatibility with that platform is a key factor.

Has anyone taken the time to compare popular flashcard apps? I’m particularly curious about which features are most effective for long-term retention and how user-friendly they are for daily studying. What features do you think set a great flashcard app apart for effective learning?

I’ve been using Anki, and it’s super effective for spaced repetition. I’ve also heard Quizlet has some great organization features. Have you tried any that sync well with GoodNotes, or is that just a pain with all of them?

I think a good flashcard app needs a solid search function for when you’re cramming. I tried one where I spent more time searching for cards than actually studying, and that was super frustrating. Also, if it doesn’t sync well with GoodNotes, it just makes everything harder. Anyone had luck with some that really mesh well?
